Eisler and Posterity Symposium on the 50th anniversary of the death of Hanns Eisler Organised by the International Hanns Eisler Society in association with the Akademie der Künste, Berlin Dates: 6–8 September 2012 Venue: Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg 10, 10557 Berlin
The conference will focus on a critical assessment of research trends to the present day and the outlook for future study of the work, life and aesthetics of the composer. Areas of particular interest include: – Analysis (methods, models, problems) – Reception (performance, scholarship, politics) – Eisler’s position in the history of 20th century music The conference languages are German and English. Please submit abstracts (c. 150 words) by 31 December 2011 to iheg@hanns-eisler.de. Notification of acceptance and the conference programme will be sent in mid-January 2012.
